Pepin Open & Lake City Cruise
The Lake City Yacht Club has again invited us down for the Pepin Open on July 5-6. Many of our members also take this opportunity to make this scenic, 50+ mile cruise down the Mississippi, through the locks just above Red Wing to the "big water" of Lake Pepin. Some of us will leave on Thursday, the 3rd and spend the night at Prescott, others will leave Friday morning and make the trip in one shot. Notice of Race, LCYC Sailing Instructions, entry form and lodging information may be found on the Lake City Yacht Club site under Race.
This is an informal cruise, you must make your own arrangements for dockage at Prescott; check with Cabana Jo's about overnight at the docks or anchor out on the Minnesota side. You have to call the Lake City Marina for slip rental at 651-345-4211 (you may have to dial 1), let them know you're with the St Croix Sailing Club. SCSC can't reserve any slips, but Lake City usually does a good job of finding us a spot. It's a beautiful trip, but watch the channel markers, and remember to give barges a lot of room.
The Bridge Tender at Prescott and the Lock Master at Red Wing may be reached on Channel 16 but be prepared to go to 14.

There are still many opportunities to host a Beercan, check the calendar, if there isn't a host listed, it's available. The club will will reserve the point and provide $150 toward food & beverages. Contact any board member if you would like to be involved.
