Commodore’s Cup, 2016

The 2016 Commodore’s Cup will be held on Saturday, October 1st and Sunday, October 2nd.  Race to Prescott on Saturday and back on Sunday!  Approximately 24 miles as the crow flies (much longer as the boat sails).

Start will be near the Hudson I-94 bridge.  Start line will be fixed to the course (downwind starts are not uncommon).

Saturday Warning Signal Times:

  • Division 3 & 5:  1100
  • Division 4:  1120
  • Division 1 & 2:  1140

Finish line will be set up around Prescott (or around 3pm at the discretion of the Race Committee)

Docking is provided free of charge, courtesy of the Prescott City Council at the city docks after 3pm.  The docks are located between the two bridges, which requires a VHF radio call on 14 or 16 to open (Highway bridge only – no need for railroad lift).  Please group together to reduce the number of lifts.

Beverages and appetizers will be provided on the dock.  You are welcome to enjoy dinner at the many fine establishments Prescott has to offer!

On Sunday morning, everyone is encouraged to have a great breakfast in town, then prep for a long day at sea!  The race back to Hudson will begin with a warning signal for all racers at 11am.

Racing will complete somewhere between Afton and Hudson – watch for the Race Committee’s finish line.

Rule Change for 2016:

18.7  Use of propulsion:
In the event of grounding, the rules of RRS 42 (Propulsion) are waived when all of the following are
met:
(a) The boat shall not advance her distance to the finish.
(b) The boat shall take a 10-minute scoring penalty per incident.
(c) The boat shall report the number of incidents to the race committee at or prior to her finish.
