Beercan Party Host Registration Form
Thank you for offering to host an event! You are a valuable part of our volunteer-run organization!
We are looking for Beercan Hosts for the season. Every year we look to you the membership to help plan and host the events that follow our 9 Beercan races. The club will reimburse picnic expenses up to $250 for Friday Beer Cans. The club will reimburse an additional $100/ea for the Rum Party and Stillwater Beercan.
Hosts have the option to suggest aspects of the evenings races. Be it a theme (arr matey), race courses, etc… Suggestions must conform to our Sailing Instructions or otherwise be approved by the Organizing and Race Committees, but all accommodations will be made to the best of our ability. Reach out to the Principal Race Officer on the Contact page if you have any questions.
SCMC members or renters wishing to host:
Please book the point in your name with SCMC (have them cancel the SCSC booking), or choose another venue as you see fit. This applies to all beercan events, including those with no venue currently assigned.
For events with locations marked “TBD”, you may choose a venue (there are lots of options), or we may “try” booking the point within a few days of the event. We try to not hog the point – it’s for everyone at the marina, after all.

Labor Day 2021
Labor Day Crew Swap Regatta
September 4th, 2021
SKIPPER & CREW REGISTRATION
NOTICE OF RACE – SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
CREW ASSIGNMENTS – COMPETITOR’S LIST – RESULTS
We’re changing up the Labor Day Regatta this year and adding a Crew Swap event! All boats and crew members should register using the link above. Friday evening, the organizers will randomly assign crew to boats. This will be a fun way to increase involvement for new club members and try something new, whether it’s crewing on a different boat or trying a different position on your regular boat. Anyone (including non-member crew) are welcome to join us for this event.
Skippers and one other experienced crew member should remain on board their own boat.
Any boats that prefer keeping their standard crew should still attend—just swap the crew around on the boat! Is there someone who’d like to have a shot at helming a race? Been a while since the skipper was on the foredeck or did any trimming? Now’s the time.
Event Schedule:
Registration Deadline:
- Friday, September 3rd, 1500 hrs.
- Crew members and Skippers are welcome to register.
- Crew assignments and division splits will be published shortly thereafter.
- Late entries will be accepted – contact the R/C on VHF or phone/text prior to the race.
Dates of Racing:
- Saturday, September 4th, 2021
- The scheduled time of the warning signal for the first race is 1100 hrs.
- There will be 1 or 2 divisions based on registration entries.
- We will sail until around 3 or 4pm (2-4 races, weather permitting).
Party:
- Rick Hughes/Blew Bayou will host a Beercan style party immediately following racing (some time after 4pm). Beverages and a light meal will be served.
- Location: The Point

Pursuit Races, 2021
9th Annual SCSC Pursuit Races
Saturday, June 19th at 11:00 hrs
Notice of Race – Sailing Instructions
Start Times
The Pursuit Race is an exciting twist on our traditional races!
Boats will start based on handicaps – High-PHRF boats first, Lower-PHRF boats later. Each class of boat has their own start time. Hence, faster boats will PURSUE the slower ones. The idea is to have everyone finish at the same time (and scare the heck out of the Race Committee). The first boat across the finish line is the winner!
There will be two races. Start times are created for all boats registered with SCSC. These times will dictate when your boat starts after the conclusion of the initial start sequence.
If you intend to race in a configuration not listed in the “START TIMES” document above (ie: spinnaker or non, different headsail size, etc) you must let the Race Committee know by 5pm Friday. Note: You may request optional configurations – ones you may or may not sail with. The R/C will add all requests to the Start Times form, and you may choose your configuration by announcing at your start.
Sign-up is not required unless you have a configuration change which affects your handicap.
The Pursuit Races are open to all members of the club, and all boats with an assigned handicap.
The final start times for registered boats will be posted on Friday.
For questions or to submit handicap changes, use the following form by Friday at 5pm:

Committee Boat Fundraiser
Our current Committee Boat has served us well for the past 22 years, but has outlived its ability to reliably serve our club. We are looking to you our members and friends to help our club purchase a new Committee Boat.
The new boat should look like a proper Race Committee vessel, convey the professional nature of our club, and reflect upon the enthusiasm our members and volunteers have for the sport of sailing. It must have safety in mind, considering the heavy weather we encounter.
We anticipate a need of up to [olimometer_target id=2] to find a suitable replacement boat and hope to purchase one in the 2022 season. Proceeds to date total [olimometer_progress id=2], and we have commitments for matching funds once certain goals have been met. Raising the total amount is actually quite a bit closer than it appears. We need the commitment of our membership to make this happen.
Thank you for your support of sailing in our community!

Frostbite Regatta
This regatta concludes our season of racing, cruising, and sailing together on the St.Croix river.
Whether your out to race, participate, cruise, learn or simply observe the experience of spending time on the water, time spent sailing can be one of the best things in life, and can make the rest of our existence seem that much more enjoyable. Our lives revolve around this sport for the summer months and once its done for the year, we may be relieved at first. But then shortly afterwards we begin to long for it. The new year begins and we can’t wait for it, spring cannot come soon enough. The ice flows off the river and then we’re all busy getting our boats ready to go; replacing, fixing, coating, buffing, polishing, and then launching. I am looking forward to next year already, I’m sure some of you are too.
I hope you all enjoyed this awesome season of sailing here with our club. And we are looking forward to sailing with you again next year.
